The truth is we often define people by the impression they give us or how they treat us, How they speak and how they communicate.
We define people’s personalities and identities by how they dress and how expensive or luxurious their lifestyle is.
That’s the biggest mistake we have made for decades now. Appearances do not equal identity or personality.
You can be with someone for a decade and still not know them, not understand them or share their feelings, But there’s one thing you can do; That’s be kind.
Be kind because you have no clue who they are, what they have been through, or what they are going through. Some people are dead but their bodies are alive.
They are not zombies, they are lost souls trying to navigate in a world they have pictured to be better without them in it.
They’ve given up because society (we) have made them feel like being different was a bad thing. Like not fitting in was a crime. Like simply trying was not enough, Like their little wins did not matter because they were not where society deemed “enough”
If you have had to live like that, thinking that your uniqueness was a defect then I want to tell you that there was once a time that I hated my ability to write, to forgive easily, to be nice, kind, creative, and intelligent. Because it... Because society made me feel like I was doing too much and doing too less just because I was myself.
Look at me now, I’m breaking all the biases’ I wished someone broke before I went through the things I did, I’m doing the things I love and meeting the right people because you can never be enough for the wrong people. So...
Stop letting people who have no clue how hard you fought to be you — define you.
I’m not as strong as I seem, but I know am not as weak as I was.
